Why should women donate their baby's umbilical cord blood?
Donating your baby's umbilical cord blood is FREE and it could possibly save the life of another human being. Babies for Life Foundation offers a streamlined process designed to make cord blood donation easy for both physicians/midwives and patients. Healthcare Providers participation involves giving an information packet to the patients, discussing the process with them, and performing the cord blood collection after delivery of the baby. Patient participation involves filling out a qualifying questionnaire, giving their consent and undergoing the blood collection procedure. Ideally, consent to donate is done by the 34 th week of pregnancy in the physician's office. Arrangements to donate can be done past the 34 th week, please contact the Foundation to obtain information.
The process is designed to take minimal time on your part. We understand that having a baby is the real priority, and the cord blood donation should not distract you from that event in any way.
